If you have Insight Phone, you may already enjoy the control that Voice Mail and Caller ID give you. Here are some less well-known ways to preserve your peace and privacy.

Do Not Disturb

At the end of a long day, wouldn't you like some peace and quiet for once without the phone ringing? Use the Do Not Disturb feature to place your phone line in a busy state for a while. The person calling hears a message saying that you do not wish to be interrupted.

To Use: Press *78. Wait for the confirmation announcement and then hang up.

To Deactivate: Press *79. Wait for the announcement confirming that the Do Not Disturb feature is deactivated and then hang up.

Selective Call Rejection

You received a phone call from a number you don't recognize. Use Caller ID Blocking when you call back to prevent the other party from seeing your phone number. They'll see "private" or "anonymous" on their display.

To Use: For each call where you want Caller ID blocked, press *67 before you dial.

Stop unwanted telemarketing calls.

Visit the National Do Not Call Registry to reduce the number of telemarketing calls you receive.
