Releasing / Renewing IP Address in Macintosh OS X

1. Go to the Apple Menu and select System Preferences. Once your System Preferences are open, click on the Network icon, located at the top in the menu bar or under Internet & Network at the bottom.

 


2. To release your IP Address, click on the drop-down box next to Configure: and switch from Using DHCP to Manually, which will modify the setting.

 


3. Close the program and you will be prompted to save configuration changes. Click Save.

4. To renew your IP address go back to the Apple Menu to System Preferences. Select the Network icon.

 


5. Verify that Location: is set to DHCP and Show: is set to Built-in Ethernet. Change Configure: back to Using DHCP.

 


6. Close the program and click Save.
